Infosys plans development centre in Bengal
Kolkata, Jun 2 (UNI) Bangalore- based IT software major Infosys has plans to set up a development centre in West Bengal with an investment of Rs 500 crore.
The proposed development centre would employ 5,000 IT professionals, state IT secretary G D Gautama said.
A high-level Infosys team had been shown land on the outskirts of Kolkata and the state government was awaiting their decision, he said.
Infosys had asked for around 100 acres for setting up the development centre, said Mr Gautama.
Major IT companies like TCS, Wipro and MNCs like IBM, Cognizant and HSBC have already set up centres in the state, emerging as a lucrative destination for IT services.
