Five injured in incessant rains
Mumbai, June 2 (UNI) Five people suffered minor injuries in two incidents of wall collapse due to incessant rainfall in the city last evening.
According to fire brigade sources, the cemented ceiling of - Hindurao Yashwant Godake's hut collapsed, following which his wife, son Prashant (20), daughter Swati (21) and grandson Nikhil (seven months) suffered injuries.
In another incident, a balcony wall of Shiv marketing building at Andheri collapsed in which - Rankumar Virguram (24) - sustained minor injuries.
Meanwhile, sources said in the past three days of rainfall, four people have died here and 22 have been injured owing to wall collapse and other incidents.
Also, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) today forecast a spell of rain or thundershowers in the next 24 hours in the city and its suburbs.
Besides, it recorded 30.2 mm rainfall at Colaba and 15 mm at Santacruz in the past 24 hours ended 0830 hrs today.
Local trains on Central railway route are running five to 10 minutes behind schedule, while Western railway services are running as per schedule, sources said.
However, Konkan railway services have been badly affected with more than 10 trains running late by several, sources added.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) disaster control room has said there was no complaint of water-logging in any part of city and maintained road traffic was running smoothly.
