Panaji, June 2 (UNI) Goa government has announced ban of all marine fishing activities in the state with effect from June 10 in a bid to allow rejuvenation of the fish resources.

The authorities, however, did not mention the period for which the ban would be in force. Generally, it was expected to be in force for two months to allow spawning of the fish.

With the monsoon setting early, the fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea in view of the bad weather conditions prevailing in the sea, according to an official release here.

The Fishermen were also directed to contact the concerned mamlatdar and the Fisheries department officials for reporting any damages or casualties in the wake of the rough weather conditions in the last four days.
