'FGN' Education Minister killed in Kohima

Kohima, Jun 02: Inter-factional killings among the underground factions of Nagaland claimed the third top brass when the 'Education Kilonser' (minister) of the 'Federal Government of Nagaland'(FGN) was shot dead by unidentified gunmen here last evening.

According to official sources here today I. Mar Jamir(55) was shot dead at the BOC market area after being chased by the assailants.

The victim hailed from Longmisa village under Mokokchung district. Police later recovered one empty case of 9 mm carbine pistol from the spot.

Mr Jamir is the third top brass of the underground factions to fall victim to inter-factional clashes within a fortnight. On May 18 suspected NSCN-IM cadres had shot dead the 'Education Kilonser' of NSCN (K) Ngampan Konyak. In retaliation, the NSCN(K) killed the 'Leacy(MLA)' of NSCN-IM in Zunheboto town on May 24.

Sources said that the body of Jamir was handed over to his relatives for the last rites.
