Deep, Saptarshi in jt lead after penultimate round

Kolkata, Jun 2 (UNI) The Karvy the Finapolis Chess for Youth Chess Tournament is all set for a pulsating finish with Deep Sengupta and Saptarshi Roy jointly in the lead after the penultimate round with six pints.

They are closely followed by Bengal Sub-Junior champion Bdeaditya Sinha Biswas and Joydeep Dutta on 5.5 points.

In the seventh round Debaditya Sinha Biswas upset 4th seed Saptarshi Roy, while National Junior girls champion Soumya Swarninathan upset 3rd seed Arghyadip Das in an interesting encounter.

Soumya, however, went down to Joydeep Dutta in the next round in the junior section Sandipan Chatterjee led the fray with 8 points and is virtually assured of the title.

The final round games will be held tomorrow from 1000 hrs with prize distribution slated for 1400 hours.
