CRPF arrest 4 people with a pistol in Sriangar

Srinagar, Jun 2 (UNI) The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), responsible for the counter insurgency operations in the city, arrested four people along with one pistol and five rounds in the down town last night.

A CRPF spokesman said a patrol party during a routine checking of vehicles at Hawal, in the down town, arrested four people along with one pistol, one magazine and five live ammunition rounds.

He said after questioning, all the four were handed over to police for further interrogation.

However, police claimed all the four were police personnel who were on a routine security drill to know the alertness of security forces deployed in the down town which witnessed stepped up violence during the past fortnight.

On May 25, police detained and later released five security personnel who were moving in a vehicle along with arms and ammunition in civil cloths in Soura area.

However, on the same evening there was a blast in a bus killing four tourists and injuring six others from Gujarat.

People in general are expressing concern over the vehicles plying in the city without registeration number plates.
