Charas worth Rs 15 lakhs seized

Darbhanga, June 2 (UNI) Police today seized about nine kg Charas worth Rs 15 lakhs from a passenger train at Muhammadpur station under Darbhanga-Narkatiaganj section of East Central Railway.

Police Superintendent of Custom department, D Ranjan said that acting on a tip off, police conducted a raid and recovered the drugs from a compartment of the train coming to Darbhanga from Narkatiaganj. The contraband was kept in small packets of half kg each, he added.

Mr Ranjan said the smugglers managed to escape from the spot.

''All the police personnel and officials involved in the operation will be rewarded,'' he added.
