CFSL assisting Police to examine clues in death of Mahajan's PS

New Delhi, Jun 2 (UNI) A team of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory is assisting the Delhi police in examining evidence to probe the mysterious death of Bibek Biman Moitra, the personal secretary of the Late Pramod Mahajan.

Moitra, Pramod Mahajan's private secretary for 15 years, died following suspected drug overdose or poisoning while Rahul Mahajan was admitted to Apollo hospital in a critical condition.

Sources in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said that on the request of the Delhi Police, teams of the the CFSL had arrived at 7, Safdarjung Road, official residence of the late BJP leader, at around noon to collect evidence and possible clues into the death of Moitra.

However, the CBI was not involved in the investigation of the case, the sources added.

A white powdery substance found from the place as well as bottles from which they consumed liquor were being examined by experts from the Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory, DCP (New Delhi Range) Manish Agarwal said.

Rahul Mahajan and Moitra were rushed to the hospital early today from Mr Mahajan's residence where they fell ill on consuming liquor, apparently laced with some poisonous substance.

While Moitra was declared brought dead, Rahul Mahajan was said to be in a critical condition.
