Centre releases Rs 199 cr under ARWSP in J

Jammu, Jun 2 (UNI) The Centre has released Rs 199.08 crore for Accelerated Rural Water Supply Project (ARWSP) in Jammu and Kashmir.

''The Centre has so far invested more than Rs 55,000 crore on rural drinking water supply,'' according to a release here.

The basic objective of the scheme is to ensure that all rural habitations have access to potable water, the release added.

Under the ARWSP, funds are provided to state for making provision of safe drinking water in rural habitations. About 20 per cent of the funds can be utilised by the state government to take up projects under the sub-mission programme to tackle water quality problems.
