Bombs kill at least four, wound 50 in Baghdad market
BAGHDAD, Jun 2 (Reuters) Two bombs ripped through one of Baghdad's oldest and most popular street markets in quick succession today, killing at least four people and wounding 50, police sources and witnesses said.
Reuters television footage showed bloodstained debris from market stalls in the centre of the capital, where Baghdadis buy and sell birds and other live animals.
''I was sitting here when one bomb went off, then another three minutes later,'' one middle-aged man said.
Another witness said: ''Many young men were wounded.'' Elsewhere in Baghdad, a roadside bomb killed two people and wounded four in the eastern New Baghdad district.
Insurgents frequently launch bomb attacks in a campaign to topple the U S-backed, Shi'ite led government.
