BJP councillor arrested in prostitution racket

Surat, Jun 2 (UNI) A BJP corporator with the Surat Municipal Corporation was among 14 people arrested during a crackdown by Navasari police on an alleged prostitution racket in Amadpor village in Navasari.

''The Navasari police conducted a raid on a hotel in Amadpor on NH8 and another hotel in Navasari town and caught eight couples during the raid,'' the sources said.

The accused were produced before the Navasari district court yesterday, the sources added.

BJP sources here said the city unit had already informed the state party unit about the incident.

However, SMC authorities declined to comment on the issue.
