'Badi Baata' helps 72,000 kids to get direct admission
Rajahmundry, Jun 2 (UNI) As many as 72,000 children will be admitted to schools directly under ''Badi Baata'' and another 14,000 put up in residential bridge camp after educating the parents, Mr D N Murthy, Additional Project Coordinator, ''Sarva Siksha Abhiyan,''(SSA) East Godavari District said.
Speaking to UNI here today, Mr Murthy said 11 stalls were put up in Konthamuru and seven at Anaparthy to highlight the methods adopted for improvement of children under SSA. Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy visited these stalls yesterday during a tour.
Mr Murthy said computer-aided learning had been introduced in 202 schools with the installation of 1,100 computers.
Children prepared various materials which were also displayed in the stalls. There was also a puppetry show on AIDS.
He said the government had sanctioned Rs 80 crore for the SSA this year.
