15 killed in lightning, several injured in MP

Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, Jun 2 (UNI) At least 15 people were killed and more than an equal number injured in lightning, house collapse and other rain-related incidents in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh in the past 24 hours, police said today.

Several incidents of roof collapses and uprooting of trees were reported during a squall in Rewa district, reports reaching the police control room said.

Four children of a family at Udma village in Hanumana police station area were among those killed due to lightning.

As many as 16 people, injured in roof collapse and snapping of tree trunks, had been admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi hospital here.

District Collector Hari Ranjan Rao has ordered an assessment of the damage.
