YSR presents new groundnut variety to farmers

Hyderabad, Jun 1 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today presented groundnut variety ICGV 91114 developed by the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (Icrisat) to the farmers of Anantapur district at a function here .

The Chief Minister symbolically handed over ICGV 91114 seeds to a group of farmers from Anantapur.

Congratulating Icrisat for developing ICGV 91114, Dr Reddy said the new variety will help the farmers obtain higher groundnut yield even while withstanding longer drought.

Dr Willian Dar, Director General of Icrisat, said the development of ICGV 91114 highlighted the commitment of their scientists to reach the most appropriate seeds to the farmers.
