Ultras killed in Nagpur belong to Islamic organisation-Yadav

Nagpur, jun 1 (UNI) The three militants, who made an abortive attempt to attack Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in the crowded Mahal locality of the city this morning, belonged to an ''Islamic organisation,'' police today said.

Speaking a press conference, Police Commissioner PSP Yadav said the investigation carried out so far revealed that all the three militants, shot dead by the police, belonged to an Islamic organisation. However, no such organisation has taken responsibility of the attack.

Mr Yadav said at about 0415hrs, a specially trained police patrol squad spotted a white ambassador car with red-beacon light number MH20B8979 moving towards the RSS headquarters from the eastern side. The squad members, travelling in two sperate vans gave a chase to the car and intercepted it near the Bharat Mahila school.

When the cops tried to open the door of the car, the three people inside the car, opened fire at them. Two police inspectors, A P Saraf and Tiwari, who were wearing bullet proff jackets, were injured and admitted to hospital where their condition was reported to be out of danger, he said, The police in retaliation, fired at the trio, killing them on the spot. The three ultras were aged between 20 and 25 years and were wearing police unforms.
