TVS registers 23 per cent growth in motorcycle sales in May
Chennai, Jun 01 (UNI) TVS Motor Company, the flagship company of the TVS Group, has reported a 23 per cent rise in motorcycle sales in May 2006, selling 78,271 units compared to 63,585 units in May 2005.
This was the third consecutive month in calendar 2006 that TVS has recorded more than 20 per cent growth in motorcycle sales, a company release here said.
Significant growth in motorcycles boosted overall two-wheeler sales in May 2006, which stood at 124,678 units compared to 106,914 units during May 2005, a growth of 17 per cent, it said.
TVS StaR continues to be the star performer for the company and has crossed the 7,00,000 sales mark.
Riding high on the style and design quotient, TVS Apache, the new 150 cc, 5-gear sensation has met with wide acceptance amongst youth who were looking for a stylish and sporty bike with better handling, ride quality and performance.
Apache was the winner of several bike of the year awards from reputed organizations and has also won BBC TopGear's 'Best design of the year award'. With a view to meet increase in demand, the company continues to ramp up its production, the release added.
