Tribal Maoist girl surrenders
Visakhapatnam, Jun 1 (UNI) A tribal girl, who was with the Maoists, surrendered at the G K Mandal police station here today.
Police said Thepangi Lakshmi (20) alias Nirmala of Lanka from Pakkalu village here was working in a coffee plantation and joined Jana Natya Mandali, attracted by revolutionary songs, about two years ago.
She was provided with weapons and served in a guerilla squad in Galikonda, Korukonda and Malkanjgiri regions.
She came into contact with the police two days back during a vehicle check in G K Veedi Mandal, and was convinced to return to the maistream.
Ms Lakshmi would be given Rs 5,000 under the state rehabilitation scheme and further recommended for land allocation, they added.
