Shetty elected Chairman of Indian Bank Association

Mumbai, June 1 (UNI) The managing committee of the Indian Banks' Association (IBA) elected V P Shetty, Chairman and Managing Director of the IDBI Ltd as the Chairman of the IBA for the term 2006-07.

Mr Shetty succeeds A K Purwar, Chairman, State Bank of India who demits his office at the close of business yesterday.

IBA meeting held here yesterday also elected S C Gupta, CMD, Punjab National Bank, O N Singh, CMD, Allahabad Bank and K V Kamath, MD&CEO, ICICI Bank Ltd as Deputy Chairmen of the association.

Chairman of Karnataka Bank Ltd, Ananthakrishna was re-elected as Honorary Secretary while H N Sinor was reappointed as Chief Executive of the association.
