Rs 26.40 lakh distributed among relatives of Wullar victims
Srinagar, Jun 1 (UNI) An amount of Rs 26.40 lakh were distributed today among the family members of the school children who drowned in Wullar Lake of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on May 30.
An official spokesman said Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara Abdul Majid Khanday distributed cheques of Rs 26.40 lakh as ex-gratia relief among the next of kin of the victims.
A total of Rs 1.20 lakh has been provided to each affected family, he added.
This included Rs one lakh given by the Indian Navy and Rs 20,000 drawn from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
