Prohibitory orders clamped around counting areas of IMC election

Imphal, Jun 1 (UNI) District Magistrate (DM) of Imphal West has ordered restriction of people gathering around the DC offices from this afternoon in view of the counting of votes for the 27 wards of Municipal Council which will begin tomorrow.

As per the order issued by the DM, the restriction will be imposed until the election process is completed. Officials said it will take some time to count the votes as ballot papers were used.

The voting for the 27 wards of IMC was held yesterday without much problem. Despite the rainfall about 77 per cent polling percentage was recorded.

About 103 candidates were in the fray for the 27 wards of IMC including ten seats reserved for women. 20 wards are from Imphal West and seven from Imphal East.
