Nikkei rises 0.9%, exporters up after U.S. gains

TOKYO, June 1 (Reuters) The Nikkei average rose 0.9 percent on Thursday on gains in exporters such as Canon Inc. and Sony Corp., after a recovery in U.S. stocks helped soothe investor concerns about a slowdown in the world's biggest economy.

The Nikkei was up 138.50 points at 15,605.83 as of 0004 GMT.

The TOPIX index was up 1.08 percent at 1,597.08.
