Heavy clouds envelop Delhi skyline, more squalls, showers likely
New Delhi, June 1 (UNI) After a heavy squall yesterday brought about a turnaround in the weather in the capital, plumetting the mercury by nine degrees, heavy clouds hovering over the Delhi skyline today brought down the minimum temperature by nearly six degrees.
The squall and the clouds, which weathermen said were an offshoot of an upper air cyclonic storm originating from Haryana and its neighbouring areas, brought tremendous relief to the people of Delhi from the sultry weather of the past few days during the day.
The Met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky with possibility of rains and thundershowers, accompanied by squalls during the next 24 hours. The capital could also witness another squall later in the evening, the weather office said.
The minimum temperature today dropped to 22.4 degrees C, six degrees below normal while the maximum temperature decreased to 41 degrees C, from 42 degrees C yesterday.
The sudden turnaround in the weather, which began last evening when a heavy squall at a speed of 50 Km per hour brought a nearly nine degree drop in the mercury in the capital - from 41 Degree C to 32 degree C, is likely to stay for another couple of days.
