Gulbarga medical bandh: Medical services hit
Gulbarga, June 1 (UNI) Medical services in the city were today badly affected as junior doctors and private doctors observed Gulbarga medical bandh in protest against the Deputy Commissioner refusing to accept their memorandum against 27 per cent quota for OBCs in higher educational institutions.
Junior Doctors Association President Dr Kiran Deshmukh told UNI that doctors observed complete medical strike in Basaveshwara and Sangameswara general hospitals and private hospitals. Most of the laboratories and X-ray units in the city also did not function as technicians too participated in the bandh to express solidarity with the striking doctors, he claimed.
''DC Pankaj Kumar Pandey's behaviour on May 29 was reprehensible.
We felt humiliated. We had given a call for the medical bandh in the city to protest against his adamant attitude,'' he said.
Elsewhere in the state, doctors went to work and medical students attended classes. However, some medicos sported black badges to show their opposition to the quota.
