Admission season at Delhi University begins
New Delhi, June 1 : Admission season at Delhi University began today with the pre-admission forms being available for sale at 16 information centres across the national capital.
The centres would sell and receive forms till June 15.
The application forms this year had been simplified and students could opt for as many colleges they like, unlike last year, where they were able to mark their choice for only ten colleges and eight courses at a time, University Vice Chancellor Deepak Pental said while announcing the admission schedule.
This year the university had introduced pre-admission forms in the Optical Magnetic Readers format in which students would have to indicate their choices by darkening circles.
After collecting the application forms from the students, they would be brought to the university and screened. Later, the forms would be sent to the respective colleges which would bring out the cut-off lists.
The first list would be out by June 27, while the second list was expected by July 1 and the third list by July 5.
Students wishing to apply through the sports quota would, however, have to apply directly to colleges. They could receive counselling between June 25 and July 1.
Physically challenged and foreign students would have centralised admissions.
Special counselling sessions were being held for SC and ST students from today till June 15.
Various student organisations had also set up 'help desks' to assist and guide the admission seekers.
Delhi University had also specially arranged week-long counselling sessions, ending yesterday, for students. The sessions provided them information about the university and prepared them for college life.
