New Delhi, June 1 (UNI) At long last, decks were cleared for the Justice M S Liberhan Commission to finalise its report on the Ayodhya demolition case with counsel for the Commission today declining to make fresh submissions in the matter.

''It is now for the chairman to finalise his report. There will be no further hearings,'' a Commission source said.

The term of the Commission -- set up 10 days after Babri mosque was demolished in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992 and repeatedly extended over the years -- expires on September 30.

The Commission closed arguments in the case on March 28, but the Centre filed a delayed written submission on April 19, arguing that the BJP conspired with other members of the Sangh Parivaar and the then UP government to bring down the mosque.

The BJP opposed this on May 1 saying the Centre's stand was politically motivated, legally untenable and factually ''far, far away from truth''.

The Commission was to hear the final submission of its counsel Anupam Gupta today and tomorrow. With Mr Gupta saying he had no further comments to make, decks were cleared for the Commission to finalise its report, the sources said.

Counsel for the Government of India, the Uttar Pradesh government, BJP leaders Kalyan Singh, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the then District Magistrate and SSP of Faizabad district R N Srivastava and D B Roy were present for the hearing today.
