CPI(M) MPs to monitor condition of wounded WB tourists

Srinagar, Jun 1 (UNI) The CPI(M) has directed its two Lok Sabha members, Amitava Nandy and Sudhamgshu Seal, to stay put in Kashmir and monitor the condition of those wounded in two grenade blasts here yesterday and also to ensure their return to West Bengal.

Jammu and Kashmir CPI(M) Secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami along with the two senior party leaders today visited the hospitals here to enquire about the condition of the wounded.

They visited the Sri Maharaja Hari Singh hospital, the Bone and Joints Hospital and the multi-specialty Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences here this morning and met the wounded tourists besides the hospital staff.

The CPI(M) leaders have also taken up the issue with the Centre and Jammu and Kashmir government to ensure return of the wounded tourists to West Bengal.

The West Bengal government had requested the party's Lok Sabha members to stay back till the wounded tourists returned to their hometowns.

The CPI(M) leaders were here as part of the 29-member delegation of the parliamentary standing committee on urban development. The delegation was on a two-day visit to Kashmir to take stock of various ongoing development programmes in the Valley.

At least 30 tourists from West Bengal were wounded in twin grenade attacks in Dalgate area here last evening.
