Congress on religion, modern civilisation from Nov 4
Varanasi, June 1 (UNI) Religious, political and corporate leaders from 44 countries are likely to congregate to attend a three-day International Congress on ''Religion and Modern Civilisation'' at the Mahatama Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith (MGKV) University here from November 4.
Interacting with newspersons yesterday, MGKV Vice-Chancellor S S Kushwaha said the Congress would attempt to devise ways for striking a balance between established religious values and modern civilisation.
''Off late it is being realised that modern civilisation is subverting long-standing religious beliefs and values. The Congress will aim at finding ways to strike a balance between modernity and ancient values and beliefs,'' he added.
The event, likely to be inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Governor, will have spritual leader the Dalai Lama as the chief guest at the valedictory session.
The Congress will be organised by the MGKV in association with Humanity in Unity -- Colarado, US-based non-profit charitable organisation of Chalanda Sai Ma Lakshami Devi.
