CBI recovers Rs 1.21 crore cash from government officer

New Delhi, Jun 1 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today recovered more than Rs 78.8 lakh from the locker of the Official Liquidator posted at Chandigarh apart from Rs 32.5 lakh seized from his official residence yesterday.

The CBI Spokesman said the agency team seized Rs 78.8 lakh in cash and Kishan Vikas Patras, worth Rs three lakh from the locker of Official Liquidator Ashish Vajpayee at a bank in Raipur, his native place.

During a raid at his official and residential premises yesterday at Chandigarh, the CBI had recovered Rs 32.5 lakh in cash and documents relating to assets worth more than a crore of rupees.

Vajpayee, a Law and Company Affairs Service official of 1987 batch, was posted at Nagpur before his transfer to Chandigarh recently.

He had gone on a foreign trip to Singapore and Malaysia with his family for 15 days this year.

Further investigation was on.
