5 injured in inter-factional clashes in Nagaland
Kohima, June 1 : At least five people, including four NSCN cadres, were seriously injured in inter-factional clashes in the past 24 hours in the Zunheboto district of Nagaland.
Official sources said here today the clashes occurred in Lochami and Sheyipu villages of the district.
In Sheyipu village, one civilian and a NSCN (K) cadre were injured while in Lochami village three NSCN-IM cadres were injured.
The district administration, with the help of police, has rushed the injured to the hospital.
In an another incident, heavy exchange of firing was reported between NSCN factions at Chingphoi village of Mon district for more than three hours. However, no casualty was reported.
Meanwhile, the Gaon Burah (village headmen) Union of Dimapur has appealed to both the NSCN factions to lay down arms and forgive each other.
The union, in a release, said the cadres to remain confined in designated camps and avoid populated areas to avoid bloodshed.
