19 died in rain-related incidents in the state

Mumbai, Jun 1 (UNI) As many as 19 people have died in rain-related incidents in various parts of Maharashtra in last two days, according to Director General of Information and Publicity Bhushan Gagrani.

Four people died in Ratnagri, three in Mumbai, two in Sindhudurg, one each in Dhule and Nagpur and eight in Aurangabad division. All the deaths were caused due to lightning or wall collapsing. The rain was more than average in 13 districts.

The rainfall recorded in Mumbai city was 118 mm, Mumbai suburbs 180 mm, Thane 99 Ratnagiri 92.2 , Raigarh 73.7, Sindhudurg 71.1, Pune 8.1, Satara 19.6, Sangli 4.5.

The forecast of heavy to very heavy rain continues for the next 24 hrs. The suburban trains were running behind schedule. About 445 additional BEST buses were being plied on the road.

However, the situation is also returning to nirmalcy in Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri districts.
