Six-month-old cub dies in fight with another lion in Gir forest
Junagadh, Gujarat, May 31 (UNI) Gir Forest officials have found carcass of a six-month-old female lion cub from Jamwala range of Gir Forest today.
According to the forest officials, the carcass was first spotted by one Kadvabhai Nanjibhai of Bhakha village of Jamwala range, who informed the forest officials.
During preliminary investigations, it was found that the cub had died due to seven injuries she had received during a fight with another lion over sharing of deer meat, which was killed by one of them, as prey.
The post-mortem conducted at the Sasan Gir Veterinary Hospital revealed that the cub's death was due to heavy bleeding caused by severe injuries sustained in the backbone and intestines.
