Six killed, one injured as vehicle falls into gorge

Shimla, May 31 (UNI) At least six people were killed and one seriously injured after the vehicle, they were traveling in, fell into a gorge in Kotkhai aera of Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh today, police said.

The accident occurred at Khaltu Nullah near Kotkhai area of the district at about 1700 hrs, killing six people on the spot and seriously injuring another.

Police said the cause of the accident was not immediately known, adding that senior officials have rushed to the spot to supervise relief and rescue operations, which were still continuing.

The injured person has been referred to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital here.
