Set your own house in order, Cong tells BJP

New Delhi, May 31: The Congress today advised the BJP to first set its 'own house in order' and function as a constructive opposition before pointing an accusing finger on others.

Reacting to the allegations of non-performance by the Congress-led UPA, levelled by the BJP in its press conference yesterday after the party's National Executive meeting, Congress Spokesperson Jayanti Natrajan said the deterioration in the BJP ever since it lost the last Lok Sabha elections had been aptly described by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, when he said that the real enemy of the BJP is within the party.

''It is a candid comment on the deterioration in the BJP,'' she said while briefing mediapersons here, adding the BJP was in ''total disarray.'' The UPA was proud of running a transparant and people-oriented government, responsive to the needs of the common man, she said.

The government, with Ms Sonia Gandhi as the UPA Chairperson, had brought in several historic measures meaningful for the democracy, like the Right to Information Act and National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, Ms Natrajan noted.
