Reporter, businessman injured in highway robbery

Rewari, May 31 (UNI) The correspondent of a Hindi daily and a businessman were robbed, beaten up and seriously injured by armed robbers in Rewari district of Haryana.

Police today said Punjab Kesari correspondent and district Congress spokesman Ramji Lal Kataria and businessman Sandeep Sapra were attacked along with two others at 2200 hrs last night while they were changing the tyre of their car after a puncture near Pithedi village.

Four armed robbers surrounded them and demanded valuables from them. They surrendered all their valuables, including two mobile phones, gold chain and gold rings.

However, Sandeep Sapra, who was changing the tyre, threw the jack screw rod at the robbers. Who fired with a country made pistol. Sapra received a bullet injury on his chest but fled with two others towards Rewari.

Kataria, who rushed towards the nearby fields, was chased by the robbers and beaten up by them with rods and lathis.

Both Sapra and Kataria were admitted to the local civil hospital and later referred to a private trauma centre.
