Police seize liquor worth Rs 14 lakh entering 'dry' Gujarat

Anand, May 31 (UNI) Anti-prohibition squad of Kheda district today sezied a truck coming from Chandigarh near Ladwal police chowki, carrying 401 crates of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) valued at Rs 16.30 lakh.

Acting on a tip off, police seized the truck entering the dry State on the Kapadwanj-Kathlal road. Police also seized branded irons valued at Rs 14 lakh, under which the liquor was hidden. The consignment was heading for Vadodara.

The total value of the seizure is estimated to be Rs 40 lakh. The driver of the truck fled the scene, but the cleaner - Lalaram - was arrested, police said.
