Monsoon brings joy and fear in Mizoram
Aizawl, May 31 (UNI) The much-awaited monsoon has finally arrived, which is active for the past five days, bringing joy to farmers across the state.
Besides quenching dry lands, the arrival of monsoon will also ease the water crisis, which has been at its peak recently.
However, as much as it brings about joy, the rainy season also brings fear, the dread of being swept away by landslides in the danger prone areas across the region.
True to this, the continuous rainfall since Friday has already caused landslides at several places, mostly on the highways, disrupting road communications.
A landslip has caused a road block at Chhiahtlang village on the Aizawl-Lunglei national high way last night creating problems for heavy vehicles to pass through.
Other districts have also reported landlide, which have caused massive damage to the roads kcompelling the local administration to make an alternative road.
Meanwhile, local administration is gearing up to tackle any kind of eventuality due to the monsoon.
