Mizoram IRB to arrive in Chattisgarh soon
Kohima, May 31 (UNI) The Mizoram Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) will be sent to Chattisgarh to flush out Maoists in the state.
Chattisgarh Deputy Inspector General of Police John Longkumer confirmed that the Union Home Ministry has directed the Mizoram government to send the IRB to Chattisgarh, specially in the Raipur district, where the 9th IRB from Nagaland is in operations now.
Mr Longkumer also confirmed that one 9th IRB Naga havildar Tamakam Yimchunger, posted in Raipur, died after consuming poisonous herbs collected from the jungle.
Yimchunger consumed the cooked herbs and fell sick. He was admitted to hospital and later died.
Mr Longkumer also said the 9th IRB jawans were strictly directed not to accept any food offered by the villagers of the area due to fear of poisoning by the Maoists.
