Man sentenced to 10-year RI for raping minor Dalit girl
Hardwar, May 31 (UNI) A local court has sentenced a contractor to 10-year rigorous imprisonment after finding him guilty of raping a minor Dalit girl four years ago.
The second Fast Track Court of the Additional Sessions Judge R D Paliwal also imposed a fine of Rs 7,000 on Yasin.
He had raped a 14-year-old daughter of a labourer working at a brick kiln under Manglaur police station on June 15, 2002 at gunpoint, when she was out in the forest.
Yasin was arrested after the girl's father lodged a report with the police.
Pronouncing the verdict, the judge awarded an additional punishment of one-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,000 under the SC/ST Act to Yasin, as the girl belonged to the Scheduled Castes. He also ordered that the amount of fine be given to the victim as recompense.
