K'taka Council polls tomorrow; keen contest ahead
Bangalore, May 31 (UNI) The biennial elections to the Karnataka Legislative Council, to elect 11 members from the Assembly constituency, will be held here tomorrow.
The three major parties, JD (S), BJP and Congress, have fielded four candidates each and were in the process of evolving strategies to face the polls, amid reports of cross voting.
Elections became imminent following 12 candidates remaining in the fray for 11 seats. A keen contest was on the cards between the fourth candidate of the JD (S) and the Congress.
Despite the JD (S) issuing a whip, All India Progressive Janata Dal Leader Siddaramaiah, whose group was still technically part of the JD (S) in the state assembly, had openly extended his group's support to the Congress to elect its fourth candidate V R Sudarshan.
The results would be announced tomorrow evening.
The elections were necessitated following the term of the 11 members coming to an end.
