JK Congress postpones meet in view of tragedy
Srinagar, May 31 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad announced the postponement of the Congress Working Committee meeting scheduled for today to express solidarity which and share grief of the bereaved families whose children drowned in a boat accident in Wullar Lake yesterday.
The committee, which met with state Congress President Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed in the chair, unanimously passed a resolution expressing grief and shock over the tragedy.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sayeed said the state Congress was with the people of the entire state in mourning the tragedy and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families in this hour of shock and gloom.
The Committee also hailed Mr Azad's decision to order a judicial inquiry into the incident.
It also strongly condemned the attack on tourists at Batpora, Doda and Udhampur massacre and the suicide attack on a Congress rally here besides other militant strikes killing and wounding innocent civilians and the security forces.
The Committee observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the school children and those killed in recent militant attacks.
