Heavy squall in Delhi brings relief from oppressive heat
New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) A heavy squall, accompanied by a dust storm and light rain, hit the capital towards the evening, bringing some relief on a day which saw the mercury rising to 42 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal.
The weather office has predicted a partly cloudy sky with dust haze or thundershowers accompanied by high winds in some areas in the next 24 hours. A drop in maximum temperature to 41 degrees C is also expected.
Heavy showers have also been forecast for Saturday following the return of South Easterly winds.
Weathermen said that the squall today was largely an offshoot of the rising humidity levels which touched 53 per cent as well as the soaring temperature mercury in Delhi over the past week.
