Health Minister calls people to desist from smoking
New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss today expressed concern over the huge mortality and morbidity caused by the use of tobacco, and called upon the people to desist from smoking and promoting it in films and on television.
In a message on world No Tobacco Day today, Dr Ramadoss said every year tobacco killed five million people. Tobacco products kill not only the individual using them, but also their near and dear ones due to passive smoking.
He asked the people to desist from smoking tobacco at public places, selling it near educational institutions, desist from selling it to minors and depicting and promoting its use in movies.
