Donald criticises treatment of Boje by SA Cricket Board
Johannesburg, May 31 (UNI) Despite ICC and a former Protea top official expressing concern over likely non-participation of Nicky Boje in Champions Trophy for alleged involvement in a match-fixing case, the South African spinner does not seem to have the confidence of his board which have not even given him a contract.
Former speedster Allan Donald said by not giving a contract the management of the South African team is sending a message they lacked confidence on Boje.
''They still haven't given him a contract, which can only mean, 'Listen, you're not in our plans'. That's really disappointing,'' Donald told SuperCricket while referring to the ill-treatment Boje receives in the hands of the South African Board.
But the pacer turned commentator lent firm support to his former teammate calling him the player who can dish out the next year's cricket World Cup to the Proteas with his slow left-arm bowling.
''Boje has to be the spinner for the World Cup, there's no question in my mind,'' he said, adding, ''He just needs the backing and the support from management, they need to tell him he's our man.'' UNI XC PG PDS RN1811
