De-terrorisation, not demilitarisation in J

Jammu, May 31 (UNI) The Panun Kashmir has urged the union government to make efforts for ''de-terrorisation'' and not demilitarisation of Jammu and Kashmir as the Peoples Democratic Party was advocating.

Cautioning the Centre against demilitarisation in the state, Panun Kashmir convenor Dr Agnishekhar said he conveyed his views to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during the recently held roundtable conference at Srinagar.

Stating this at a meeting of prominent community members Panun Kashmir convenor also expressed concern over the Government's proposal to discuss the devolution of power between the Centre and state.

The Panun Kashmir leader termed the proposal of self rule, demilitarisation and joint control by Pakistan as inimical to the survival of Jammu and Kashmir as integral part of India.

Strongly objecting to the Centre's soft stand towards Hurriyat, Dr Agnishekhar said ''Even the concept of Kashmiriyat which earlier was co-existence, brotherhood and plural society is nowhere seen and Hurriyat as well as People's Democratic Party (PDP) are connoting the concept of Kashmiriyat in their own tune and tenors,'' he added.

Rejecting the rehabilitation proposal, the leader said Kashmiri Pandits will not return to Kashmir under any dispensation except separate homeland with Union Territory status.
