AP CM promises completion of Polavaram project
Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, May 31 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy today reiterated that the state government would complete the multi-purpose Polavaram project to supply irrigation water to farmers in five districts in the state at any cost.
Dr Reddy who was touring West Godavari district visited Koyyalagudem and Jangareddigudem mandals.
The Chief Minister said his government was supplying free power to farmers and had written off Rs 1,200 crore arrears of power charges of farmers.
He said the villages in the state experienced no develoment during the past two decades and added that the state goverenment has decided to provide necessary infrastructure in rural areas in three years.
He said that the government would implement developmental activities in a phased manner in rural areas.
In Bayyanagudem village the Chief Minister assured that a regulator would be constructed across the Byneru rivulet to supply irrigation water to 6000 acres and drinking water to 17 villages.
He later visited Jangareddigudem and announced a 100-beded-hospital there and also a reservoir at Poganda.
Later the Chief Minister laid foundation stone of a tobacco auction centre at Jangareddigudem.
