Anxious relatives await news of tourists in J
Kolkata, May 31 (UNI) Relatives of those touring the troubled state of Jammu and Kashmir grew anxious as information about the injured in the grenade attack on two tourist buses by terrorists near the famous Dal Lake this evening trickled in.
Bardhaman resident Tarak said that his sister and brother-in-law were in Kashmir and had last contacted him on Monday when they were in Sonmarg.
Similar was the case with Bally resident Kajal Chakraborty whose daughter Keya was visiting the valley and last contacted her family on May 27.
Neighbours of Ballygunj residents Tapan Ghosh and his wife Minati were spending anxious moments awaiting news about them. They said they came to know from TV channel that Mrs Ghosh has suffered injuries in the attack and were anxiously waiting for some word about them.
Meanwhile, both Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and state Tourism Minister Manabendra Mukherjee said the administration is on high alert and is in constant touch with their counterparts in Jammu and Kashmir.
A control room has been operationalised at the Writers' Buildings to provide information about the injured.
