Ajmer observes bandh against reservation
Ajmer, May 31 (UNI) Ajmer today observed a shutdown in protest against 27 per cent reservation in higer educational institutions.
The bandh called by medical students and resident doctors was able to garner the support of more than 100 trade, social and workers' union here.
All major markets, business establishments, private nursing homes, petrol pumps and cinema halls remained closed today. The public transport system was also crippled as buses and tempos failed to ply on the roads.
However, the bandh failed to evoke a response in the Muslim-dominated areas like Andarkot, Khadim Mohalla Langar khana gali in the vicinity of Khwaja Sharif's Dargah.
Meanwhile, quota supporters' Arakshan Bachao Manch protesting against the bandh, asked shops to remain open.
However, the support to the bandh seemed total as most people remained indoors supporting the bandh.
According to police, Ajmer bandh remained peaceful with no reports of any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, in Jaipur the resident doctors continue to conduct the parallel OPDs outside the Sawai Man Singh Hospital.
