London, May 30 (UNI) Michael Vaughan returned to action with a quickfire 67 to lead Yorkshire to a comfortable six-wicket victory over Scotland in a rain-interrupted C&G Trophy match here today.

The regular England captain -- returning after a career-threatning knee injury which kept him out of action for more than three months -- hit nine fours and one six in his knock of 67 before being caught by Craig White off the bowling of Johann Nel.

He left the crease with Yorkshire needing just 18 runs to win the match as per the Duckworth and Lewis system after Scotland had made 212 in their 50 overs.

The yorkshire captain had earlier stated that he was itching to get back to the national side and feared losing his captaincy because of the injury he picked up in Pakistan in November last year.

Meanwhile, England coach Duncan Fletcher has said he was satisfied with the progress made by Vaughan in his rehabillitation and rejected mounting criticism that the regular skipper was taking longer than expected to the recover.

Yorkshire physio Wayne Morton has also dismissed fears over Vaughan's slow recuperation saying that the right-hander was ''ahead of schedule'' in his rehabilitation.
