UAE police awarded for rescuing kidnapped Indian girl
Dubai, May 30 (UNI) A UAE police team has been conferred with outstanding awards for rescuing a 13-year old Indian girl who was kidnapped for ransom by people identified as of Arab origin.
Vice-President, Prime Minister and ruler of Sharjah Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum honoured 47 police personnel from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah yesterday for rescuing Fatima Mohammed Munir within 48 hours of the kidnapping on February 13.
The team reunited the girl safely with her parents after subduing the kidnappers, who had demanded a ransom of three million in dirhams (Rupees 13.8 crores) and three million in dollars (Rupees 3.7 crores).
The ceremony to honour the police officers was attended by a number of ministers and senior interior ministry officers.
