Sania crashes out of French Open

Paris, May 30: Sania Mirza's tryst with the French Open lasted barely 56 minutes as she crashed out of the tournament with a 4-6, 1-6 first round loss to 10th seed Anastasia Myskina of Russia today.

Sania, who returned to action only last week after a long injury layoff, was clearly not in her element as she committed 37 unforced errors during the match.

The Hyderabadi teenager started off rustily against the former champion and nerves got the better of her as she was broken twice in the opening set. Sania managed to break back once but Myskina had wrested the initiative by then and took the set 6-4.

The second set saw the World number 11 Russian in even more destructive form as she fired 13 winners and broke Sania thrice. The Indian could not recover and caved in to the aggressive Myskina, who finished off the set in 24 minutes to cruise in to the second round.
